Leavenworth: 60th - 49th St

Lane Reconfiguration

Omaha Public Works is improving safety and operations along one mile of Leavenworth Street from 60th to 49th Streets.
This summer’s resurfacing of Leavenworth will extends the existing three-lane configuration between 60th and 55th Streets eastward to 49th Street by restriping the segment east of 55th Street from four lanes to three. This change introduces a center left-turn lane to improve operations and reduce conflicts, while creating a consistent lane configuration along the corridor.

In addition, the project includes pedestrian crossing enhancements and extends the existing westbound bike lane from its current terminus at 55th Street east to near 48th Street, improving continuity for bicycle travel through the corridor.

The updated configuration is expected to help manage vehicle speeds, reduce conflict points, enhance mobility, and support safer travel for all users.

(Project corridor carries less than 25,000 vehicles-per-day which is the threshold recommended by the Federal Highway Administration for considering lane reconfigurations.)
